From blogs4God:
March 19, 2003 Prayer over Punditry MeanDean at 12:40 AMWhile taking my walk Monday, I was thinking that perhaps we should all put down our blogs and engage ourselves in a day of prayer and fasting. Then Tuesday morning I received a request from Russ Mayes to consider using our bandwidth call for a day of prayer on Wednesday, Sentiments echoed by Doug at Mute Trubador and Kurk at Sainteros.
So now, I ask you. Regardless of which side of the political aisle you stand, let us join one another in prayer as a war with Iraq appears inevitable.
Dear Lord,
I praise you becuase you are in control. It is comforting to know that you are watching over me, my friends, my country, and all the nations of the world.
I ask you to send your wisdom to the leaders of our country. It is my prayer that we can get through this conflict without loss of life that your created, whether it is American or Iraqi. May this conflict be short.
Please guide and protect our troops.
Forgive us of where we have fallen short you You.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
Here is the RPM logo that I created for the youth group. Pressed couldn't find it.
Mr. Wright, out!
Well it has been decided that the church needs a logo. Several people are working on some ideas, below you will see thre results, I have worked on a few of them. I guess the reason that I am posting them is because I know that they will never see the light of day.
-Design one and two
These are the same design just different colors.
-Designs three and four are variations on a theme.
-Design five
-Design six
-Desgin seven
-Design eight
Please remember that these are works in progress, but I would love to hear imput on them.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
Anxiety is a theif that robs our joy, our peace of mind and even our health. So why do we worry? Because there are so many things to worry about! We all have our pet worries: we worry about getting sick; we worry about getting caught; we worry about dieing; we worry about living. We worry about what has happened, what will happen, and what might happen.
We might as well face it: there will always be stuff to worry about. So rather than wishing for a problem free life, we should take Paul's advise: instead of worrying and fretting about everything, we should take our concerns to God.

Lord it was You who
Created the heavens
Lord it was Your hand
(That) put the stars in their place
Lord it is Your voice
(That) commands the morning
Even oceans and their waves
Bow at Your feet
Lord who am I
Compared to Your glory, Oh Lord
Lord who am I
Compared to Your majesty
(I) am Your beloved Your creation
And You love me as I am
(You) have called me chosen for Your kingdom
Unashamed to call me Your own
(I) am Your beloved

Tonight in youth, at church, Pressed had the youth discussing some different and inventive ways that people could go about witnessing. Not many suggestions were offered, not anything that I thought was really inventive, until a freshman in high school spoke up and offered a suggestion: "Wear a sign that says 'Ask me.'" Well that got me thinking. What about a t-shirt that said that. (Of course since Pressed thinks frighteningly like me, or is it me like him, said the same thing a few seconds after me.) That could work. The first idea that I came up with was very simple and very similiar the the got milk? ads. Let's see what you all think.
Please leave your thoughts.

It seems that archaeologists have found the tomb of James, Jesus' half brother. The burial box has an inscription that reads:"James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus." If this is genuine, it will be the oldest archaeolgical link to Jesus. Read the Washington Post article.

The assembly that I was complaining about, was really cool! It was a video presentation with about being street smart and staying away from drugs and the like. The really cool part is that it wasn't just any ole video presentation, it used three projectors, three synchronized DVD players, a nice sound system, and a super huge screen. It was ultra cool! To add to all of that coolity, the video used celebrities to get the message across, including four bands, all of them Christian (DC Talk was one of them). They used some funny clips from movies like Shrek, Cats & Dogs, Spy Kids, just to name a few. The good folks from MADD sponsered the show. I did find one thing interesting, every they told kids not to drink beer they would always tack on "until you are 21." Well they almost got it right!
Oh, and I have another assembly on Monday! Whoo hoo.

Tonight in youth was a bit of a blast to the past. Worship tonight was a selection of Al Denson's Greatest Hits circa early 1990's. That era in music when "real" instruments were not needed just a good ole keyboard with all kinds of fun sounds. Then to top it off Pressed used a PowerPoint with New Times Roman, my favorite font. Le Renard Subtil even commented that he was expecting to see some old faces when he looked around the room. It was a good night!
Other notes:
Anna's story of fire drills and jello got noticed over at Idea Joy.
Ganns is back to blogging. Sweet!
Cheryl has a bun in the oven! Congrats!!! I will be praying for you.
Erin has returned home for surgery. I got to see her for a few seconds tonight. I would only hope that I would have the same attitude that she does if I ever went through something as stressful. I continue to pray for her.
I have added the amusing and entertaining mosaiclife.com to my daily reads. Take a look.

Please visit Opinionated and read this entry on some issues that seem to arise out of the general idea of evangelism and how God overcomes those issues.
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

I can't believe it but I keep forgetting to tell you one of the coolest things that happened to me this week, it made the whole week worthwhile!
A while back I sent a copy of the mission trip video to my site manager, Monica, becuase it has some footage of her and our site. I got a thank you card in the mail from her. She thanked me for sending it, but that is not the cool part! She reported that as least six kids accepted Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior! It is my prayer for this site that the church that sponsered this site will continue to work in that apartment building and disciple and shepard those children that made decisions.

I am working on a new entry but I am waiting on some information. One of the topics in this entry that I am working on concerns modernism and postmodernism. While surfing some new blogs, I found another blog that discusses this very subject.
Mr. Wright, out!
Update: Here is yet another entry from a different blog on the subject!
I have made it back from Nashville. Yet another rewarding trip and it was one of the smoothest trips that I have been on. M-Fuge is just a great program. It has a wonderful balance between the "camp experience" (personal growth) and missions (helping others grow). So which M-Fuge did I like best, Riverside or Nashville? I loved them both. I don't think that I could ever pinpoint my favorite mission trip. Each trip has been great and each trip God is moving in new and exciting ways and that is what matters. To learn MORE about the trip visit the youth website or visit my class site.
Come Sunday Night to see our mission trip report. I'm working on the video right now.
Mr. Wright, out!
I am in Nashville, TN right now on mission trip. We are staying at Belmont College and they have internet connection rigt in the rooms! Not sure if I should be using it. Until the men in black catch up with me, I will be posting updates over at the TBC Youth Website, including pictures. Go over and take a look.
In the mean time, tell me about you favorite mission trip memory when you comment on this lesson!
Mr. Wright, out (of town)!
It has been some time since I have had a chance to post here. There have been many things that have been going on. Since Sunday, I have been in St. Louis at the Southern Baptist Convention. It has been quite exciting and an eye opening experience. Let me start off by saying that I am extremely proud to be a Southern Baptist. The leaders of the convention are outspoken about our faith. Speaking of outspoken, I am sure that many people have heard the statement made about Muhammad. It made a nice sound bite for the news, but media neglected to finish the quote which explained that Muhammad’s last wife was 9 years old. I think that would put him among the ranks of a pedophile. Here is the full comment from pastor Jerry Vines: (Order a tape of the sermon)
"They would have us to believe that Islam is just as good as Christianity, but I'm here to tell you, ladies and gentlemen, that Islam is not just as good as Christianity," Vines told several thousand delegates gathered at the Edward Jones Dome.
"Christianity was founded by the virgin-born son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ. Islam was founded by Muhammad, a demon-possessed pedophile who had 12 wives - and his last one was a 9-year-old girl. And I will tell you, Allah is not Jehovah, either. Jehovah's not going to turn you into a terrorist that'll try to bomb people and take the lives of thousands and thousands of people."

The protestors were interesting as well!
In other news: I have gone further into debt today. Click here to see on what. There is more to the story but that will be for a later date! This picture does not EXACTLY represent what I got but it does give you an idea.
Below, tell me what you think about Rev. Jerry Vine’s comment and what you think of my purchase.

XCVI
MY life closed twice before its close;
It yet remains to see
If Immortality unveil
A third event to me,
So huge, so hopeless to conceive,
As these that twice befell.
Parting is all we know of heaven,
And all we need of hell.

Best of luck Kim!

I hope that everyone had a good Mother's Day! Mine was busy but good. I was in charge of putting together a PowerPoint for church with the senior adult mothers in the church. Finding music and scripture was tough but it all worked out. With the exception of my mistakes it went off without any technical problems, which is rare.
How was your Mother's Day? Tell me when you comment on this lesson.

Happy Easter! I hope that everyone has taken some time today to focus on what this day is really about. It is a shame that the Easter Bunny has taken center stage for the real reason for this day, Jesus.
Today was the Easter Cantata and everyone that was there had an opportunity to focus on Jesus. All the multimedia that I helped create with Craig Tanner worked out well. The musical was wonderful. I was glad that the whole early service was more than just a show to watch but a true worship experience, and a powerful one at that!
Mr. Wright, out!
I have been using my time to update my site and helping out with the Easter Cantata at church. This year they are performing Experiencing God - The Musical. It is a really powerful collection of songs.
Craig and I have been working on creating movie clips and PowerPoints to go along with the show. We are actually pretty much caught up and have most everything ready to go after some initial glitches. (There are always some!) I think these additions will help establish a tone that the musical already has.
